Cayenne – The Rennaissance Pepper

The Cayenne pepper’s powerful kick is the source of many of the self-defense sprays used by law enforcement agencies around the world, so it’s really no surprise that the Cayenne is also the basis for some of the most intense Hot Sauce on the market. Named for the city of Cayenne in French Guiana, this bad boy of peppers produces fruits that rate anywhere between 30,000 and 50,000 Scovilles, for a “Hot Factor” of 3 out of 5. But adding a kick to spicy food isn’t all that the Cayenne pepper can do – they’re also reknowned for their health benefits. Rich in vitamins A, B6, E and C, Cayenne peppers have even been known to show up in diet drinks thanks to their reputation for speeding up metabolism and increasing circulation. Versatile and delicious, the Cayenne Pepper is one of our all-time favorites!
